The 8th WAVO Congress was recently held on 2-3 November 2016 in Daegu, Republic of Korea. The SISV, one of the founding members of WAVO and also where the Headquarters for WAVO is located, co-hosted the 8th WAVO Congress with the Korea Appraisal Board (KAB).

An important highlight of this Congress was the signing of the Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) between The World Association of Valuation Organisations (WAVO) and the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC). Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of IVSC Board of Trustees and Dr Lim Lan Yuan JP, Executive President of WAVO saw to the successful signing of the MOC between the two world bodies of valuation. This is a milestone event for the two global valuation bodies, and most significant for the global valuation profession. Under the MOC, IVSC and WAVO agree to jointly promote the importance of adopting the International Valuation Standards. WAVO will educate and train valuers on the IVSC standards, and IVSC will support and endorse the efforts of WAVO in encouraging its members and others in the adoption of the IVSC standards.

Members who attended the recent Congress included those from Hong Kong, Romania, Korea, United States, Australia, China (China Institute of Real Estate), Germany, Canada and Singapore. The Congress was warmly attended by more than 300 fellow valuers, appraisers and other real estate professionals as well as dignitaries from around the world.
