Points to take note in organisation

  • In deciding on the congress themes and sub-themes, the host member should try to allow discussion of various aspects of the valuation discipline. At every congress, a topic on valuation practice eg legislations and control on valuation practice, the scope of practice, the scale of fees payable etc should be provided. Topics on valuation practice, and theory and principles of valuation should be included in the congress. The purpose is to attract both researchers and practitioners of valuation.

  • The format of the congress can be in various forms including plenary session, separate workshops and simultaneous workshops.

  • A two-hour session should be provided as part of the Congress programme for WAVO to hold its annual meeting. In addition, time for a lunch-time Board meeting should also be provided before the annual meeting, preferably on the first day of the Congress.

  • Congress papers whether in the form of detailed papers or powerpoint slides should be provided to each participant. A copy of the entire congress proceedings should be lodged with the WAVO Congress Committee.

  • A competition for the best research paper and best practice paper written and presented should be conducted. This contest should be made known to paper presenters before the congress so that they can prepare and submit their papers. The decision of the best papers will be decided by a committee of three to five members to be decided by the host member and WAVO Congress Committee. A sum of US$1500 and a certificate should be presented to the winner of each of the best papers. This amount is to be paid for by the host member.

  • WAVO will select the better papers at the Congress for publication as a book. The WAVO Congress Committee will take charge of the publications. The host country should obtain permission from all presenters for their papers to be published.
