[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\"\"[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”3\/6″][vc_column_text]The International Fire Safety Standards Coalition (IFSSC) recently announced that a Chinese version of the\u00a0<\/span>International Fire Safety Standards \u2013 Common Principles<\/span><\/i>\u00a0(IFSS \u2013 CP) has been produced following discussions with the\u00a0Chinese Government and international firms operating in China.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are now two international firms working in China who have adopted the IFSS \u2013 CP, recognised it as the \u2018gold standard\u2019 and committed to support and promote the standards in the Chinese market.<\/span><\/p>\n

Robert Hecek, LFAPI, Chair of\u00a0APIV<\/a>, and founding member of the International Fire Safety Standards Coalition (IFFSC) said \u201cThe continued acceptance of the standards by organisations and governments is good news for the coalition and its push to have the standards implemented globally.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The UN accepted the new standards\u00a0on the 13<\/span>th<\/span>. November 2020 at the 81<\/span>st<\/span>.session of the\u00a0Committee of Urban Development, Housing &\u00a0Land\u00a0Management in Geneva and is now driving its implementation with the UN Global membership.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next step for the coalition is to develop a plan for a Decade of Fire Safety 2020-2030. We have commenced on a draft plan and are looking at presenting the final published version of the plan to the UN in the latter part of 2021 to seek UN endorsement and adoption of the IFSS ten-year plan\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Further work is\u00a0now\u00a0being done by\u00a0the\u00a0IFSSC\u00a0on a global directory and roadmap to existing regulatory codes as well as a comparative dictionary for existing fire safety terms used in IFSS-CP.<\/span><\/p>\n
